From being volunteered to International Judge: Erica Kirby and the value of mentoring

For Erica Kirby, a career as a sailing official began in much the same way as many of the best things in our sport do: she happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. Almost two decades later, Kirby has reached one of the highest levels of officiating in the sport, with her appointment as a World Sailing International Judge.

Now Open: Women, Girls and Youth Officials' Mentor Program 2026–2027

Australian Sailing has opened Expressions of Interest for the Women, Girls and Youth Officials' Mentor Program for the 2026–2027 season. The program is part of Australian Sailing's Instructor, Coach and Official Development Strategy, and reflects Focus Area 1 of that strategy — Put People First — which recognises that developing people is central to growing a strong officiating community.
