International Women’s Day Webinar Showcases Trailblazing Women in Sailing

Over 65 participants tuned in last week for an inspiring International Women’s Day webinar, hosted by sailing commentator and SheSails ambassador Nic Douglass, to celebrate the achievements of women in sailing and explore ways to accelerate action in the sport, the theme of International Women’s Day this year. The event featured a powerhouse lineup of speakers who shared their personal journeys, challenges, and visions for the future of women in sailing.

Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship 2025

Fremantle Sailing Club (FSC) and its Women’s Racing and Mentorship Program (RAMP) are excited to be the host club for this Australian Sailing event for 2025 and 2026. Hosting this event will see world ranked athletes from around Australia sailing in Freo waters and will give women of Western Australia an opportunity to compete at a high level in their own backyard.

Increasing ILCA class Female participation in Australia

The Australian ILCA class has continued to show growth in participation by females in the ILCA’s, Australia’s most popular single handed dinghy class, at the Oceania and Australian Open and Youth Championships sailed in early January from the Royal Queensland Yacht Club. Half of the entrants were female skippers in the ILCA4’s, which with 92 entries had the largest fleet of the three ILCA classes, the rebranded Laser class.

"Celebrating Women in Sailing: Third Annual SheSails Meet-Up at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania Inspires Growth and Connection"

Nic Douglass, renowned as Adventures of a Sailor Girl, hosted the third annual SheSails Women Sailors and Supporters Meet-Up at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania on New Year’s Eve. With approximately fifty attendees, the event celebrated the growing participation of women in sailing, particularly highlighting those who completed their first Rolex Sydney Hobart, Melbourne to Hobart, and Launceston to Hobart races this year.

SheSkippers Event

On the weekend of 12th & 13th of October, the Richmond River Sailing & Rowing Club in Ballina held it's SheSkippers Regatta. Consisting of six races over two days, this rather unique regatta has a somewhat different approach and objectives to many other women’s events.

This weekend, the Le Fevre Peninsula will be buzzing with upwards of 160 women competing in the third South Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta (SAWKR). It has grown each year with participants from metro and regional South Australia and interstate. We have Sydney to Hobart racers to close-to novices and women of all ages.
