Start Promoting Your SheSails Discover Sailing Day
Published Tue 08 Sep 2026
With less than two months to go until Discover Sailing Month, now is the time to start putting your plans into action and spreading the word about your SheSails Discover Sailing Day.
Getting your event in front of people early will give you the best chance of attracting new participants.
Here are some tips to ensure your Discover Sailing Day gets the promotion it deserves:
1. Make sure your event is listed on the Australian Sailing website
If you haven’t already, make sure your event is listed on the Australian Sailing website. To make the process as easy as possible, we've developed a step-by-step guide that walks you through creating and publishing your event in revSPORT HERE.
Having your event listed means women and girls looking for opportunities to try sailing can easily find the key details, including the date, location and how to register.
Check that all information is up to date and that your registration link is working before you begin promoting the event more widely.
2. Start your local promotion
Once your event is live, start spreading the word through your club’s own channels and local networks.
Share the event across your club’s social media pages, website and newsletters, and encourage members to share it with friends, family and colleagues who might be interested in giving sailing a go.
You can also look beyond your existing membership by promoting the event through local community groups, schools, sporting organisations and community noticeboards.
The aim is to reach women and girls who may not already have a connection to sailing and give them a simple, welcoming opportunity to experience the sport for themselves.
3. Use our Discover Sailing Day marketing resources
To support clubs hosting SheSails Discover Sailing Days, Australian Sailing has developed a suite of SheSails Discover Sailing Month marketing resources to help promote women and girls-focused events.
The resources include customisable Canva assets such as social media tiles, posters and flyers, as well as physical promotional materials including pull-up banners and selfie frames.
Clubs are encouraged to use the resources across their digital channels, around the club and at local events to help raise awareness and attract more women and girls to give sailing a go.
If you missed our Discover Sailing marketing webinar, you can still watch it online. Hosted by Nic Douglass (Sailor Girl HQ), the webinar covers practical strategies to attract more women and girls to your event and how to use the available resources to help maximise participation. Watch it here.
4. Request merchandise

A range of SheSails promotional merchandise is also available to support events, including keyrings, sun visors, tote bags, stickers and flyers. Items are subject to availability.
Clubs interested in receiving merchandise are encouraged to contact their local General Manager to submit a request.
