Jo Aleh - Olympic Champion and Emirates Team New Zealand sailor

We're thrilled to welcome Jo Aleh to this year's SheSails Conference speaker line-up.

Jo is a four-time Olympian, Olympic gold and silver medallist, World Champion and former Rolex World Sailor of the Year. She is now a member of the Emirates Team New Zealand sailing team for its defence of the America's Cup in Naples in 2027.

In March 2026, Jo made history when she became the first woman to sail aboard an AC75 as part of the crew, marking another significant step forward for female representation at the pinnacle of professional sailing.

She won Olympic gold in the women's 470 alongside Polly Powrie at London 2012, followed by silver at Rio 2016. Jo returned for her fourth Olympic Games at Paris 2024, competing in the 49erFX with Molly Meech and leading the New Zealand Team into the Opening Ceremony as one of its flagbearers.

Jo has continued to compete at the highest level of the sport through SailGP and the America's Cup. In 2024, she represented Emirates Team New Zealand in the inaugural Women's America's Cup in Barcelona, helping to showcase the opportunities available for women within one of sailing's most prestigious competitions.

Alongside her achievements on the water, Jo has been a strong advocate for creating opportunities and pathways for the next generation of female sailors. She brings a unique perspective on elite performance, leadership, breaking barriers and the changing opportunities for women in sailing.
