Wynyard Yacht Club entered it's first team into the Women's Keelboat regatta this season, as part of a plan to
increase competitive sailing amongst female members. They were successful in sailing through to the Gold Final, and
were the only North or North West team to do this.

 Following this the team discussed ways to continue their representation of WYC and female sailing in the north west, and 
organised the inaugural 'Women's Winter Warmer'. This event targeted local North West clubs with the aim of
encouraging female sailors to participate in an afternoon of dinghy team sailing.

The event was fully booked, and nine out of 12 sailors were female, achieving more than our 50% female sailor aim. There are plans to open the event statewide and build on it as a yearly female sailing regatta, supporting in particular rural female sailors. 

We have also enlisted the help of an Australian Sailing accredited Instructor from WYC, to help facilitate training and interest in further SheSails regattas in the yearly Keelboat Regatta.
