The SheSails project: High-Performance pathways and support for female sailors
Published Wed 19 Oct 2022
Thanks to the University of Canberra a PhD scholarship opportunity to be involved in an important piece of work with the Australian Sailing Team is now on offer.
This PhD will address the theme of helping female athletes to win more medals. It will comprise a series of studies exploring female-specific opportunities in athlete development, retention and performance optimisation.
There are a range of topics that could be explored, depending on the candidate’s skillset. Examples include squad dynamics, training and communications strategies or health issues.
We believe people with a variety of backgrounds (eg. sports science, performance analysis, psychology, coaching, physiotherapy) could contribute to understanding and solving this challenge.
The PhD candidate will be embedded with Australian Sailing, and contribute to athlete support services.
The project will have strong practical benefits for female athletes and their coaches/ support staff.
Expression of interest must be submitted by 30th October 2022, full details via this link.
