SheSails National Leadership Conference – part inspiration, part education!

The SheSails Leadership Conference event designed to champion women in sailing and empower them to reach their full potential is now just two weeks away with a great lineup confirmed.


Sarah Styles, Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation will deliver her keynote presentation on the importance of gender diversity and the value of sport.

Date: Wednesday 6th October
Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm (AEDT)
Facilitated by: Sue Cormack, Consultant and past facilitator of Sport Australia’s Women Leaders in Sport workshops.

  • 6:00 – 6:10pm: Welcome and introductions from Australian Sailing & World Sailing
  • 6:10 – 6:40pm: SheSails Around the grounds: inspirational SheSails stories from around Australia
  • 6:40 – 7:25pm: Sarah Styles, Director of the office for Women in Sport and Recreation will present:

Establishing a stronger, inclusive narrative for women - why gender diversity so important, covering a women’s journey to the top of the table and how women offer a different set of eyes and different skills as well as how to navigate it all!
The value of sport – it is greater than simply the ‘game’. Networks, friendships and cross-cultural communication - together with career and personal growth opportunities - all contribute to the tremendous value of sport.

This SheSails event forms part of World Sailing’s first ever women’s sailing celebration, Steering the Course, Southern Hemisphere Festival that will run from Friday 1st – Sunday 10th October. 


Steering the Course is an international festival that aims bring together women across all generations in a celebration of the sport of sailing. Created to provide opportunities for women across the world to get into sailing, as well as encourage pathways and bring together sailing communities.
